BC Welfare

DEPARTMENT INTRODUCTION

The Backward Classes Welfare Department mainly takes care of educational advancement of Backward Classes where as the economic development falls in the domain of B.C. Corporation. Various educational schemes implemented by the department in this district. Among the schemes mentioned, the major schemes are maintenance of Welfare Hostels and Post Matric Scholarships.The following schemes of the department implemented in this district.

MAINTENANCE OF THE HOSTELS

There are 76 Pre Matric Hostels have functioning in the District. Out of which 58 Boys Hostels, 18 Girls Hostels. So far 8130 students have been admitted during the year 2018-19. Out of 76 Hostels 44 hostels have functioning in Govt. buildings and 32 hostels are functioning in Private rented Buildings.

There are 24 College Boys and Girls Hostels are sanctioned in Prakasam district in each Assembly constituency @1+1 i.e. boys & girls , out of which 20 hostels are functioning in the private rented buildings The sanctioned strength is 2400 and admitted strength is 2387 in Prakasam District.

The Note Books have been distributed to all the Assistant BC.Welfare Officers for supply of hostel Boarders in Prakasam District for the year 2019-2020

SUPPLY OF DRESSES:-2019-2020

The cloth to be received from the Manager, APCO, Secundrabad for the year 2019-2020, after receiving of the cloth distributed to all the ABCWO’s and directed to stitch the Uniforms through the approved agencies selected by the DPC, Ongole. The stitching work entrusted ABCWO’s point. The 4 pairs of Uniform dresses have to be distributed to all the Hostel Boarders sufficiently

SUPPLY OF MATERIALS TO THE PRE MATRIC HOSTELS

During the year 2018-2019 the following materials have been supplied to the Govt.BC.welfare hostels in Prakasam District Trunk Boxes, Rice Dabara, Grinders, Poori mukudes, Garelu, Basins, Idly maker, Gas stoves, Plate glass purchased by approved agencies through the DPC, and distributed to the pre matric hostels

SUPPLY OF MATERIALS TO THE POST MATRIC HOSTELS

During the year 2018-2019 the following materials have been supplied to the Govt.BC.welfare hostels in Prakasam District i.e. Iron Racks, Dabaras, Grinder, Poori mukudes, Garitelu, Basins, Idly maker, Gas Stove etc were purchased by approved agencies through the DPC, and distributed to the Post matric hostels

REPAIRS TO THE GOVT. BUILDINGS

The Director,BC.Welfare,A.P., Vijayawada has released an amount of Rs.40,18,000/- towards minor repair works to the Govt. BC Pre-metric/ Post-metric Hostels in the District for the financial year 2019-20. As per instructions of the Collector & District Magistrate, Prakasam District, ongole, letter addressed to the EE APEWIDC ongole to furnish the line estimates for taking up of the minor repair works to the Govt. Buildings in the District. And for Rs.18,22,222/- has been released towards minor repair works to the AP BC Residential schools for 2019-2020 soon after receipt of the line estimates the administration sanction will be get in from the Collector & District Magistrate, Prakasam District, ongole for entrust the work to the executive engineer APEWIDC ongole.

STIPENDS TO B.C. LAW GRADUATES

With a view to extent financial support and training to poor law graduates of B.C. community. Govt. is providing training to eight eligible advocates every year under this scheme for 3 years by providing stipends of Rs.1000/- per month and Rs.6000/- for purchase of books and furniture as enrollment fees. During the year 2018-19 Four (04) Law Graduates were selected by the Chairman/Joint Collector.

REGISTRATION OF B.C. CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES

The District B.C.Welfare Officer acts as functional registrar of weaker sections Co-Operative societies and at present 11 Co-operative Societies i.e. 1)Nayee Brahmin, 2)Vaddera, 3)Washerman, 4)Battaraju, 5)Valmiki/Boya, 6)Krishna Balija/Poosala 7)Sagara/Uppara 8) Medara, 9) Kumara/ Salivahana,10) Viswabrahmin,11) Gowda/Toddy Tappers Co-operative Societies Registration is being completed by the Department.

AP B.C. STUDY CIRCLE

As per the orders of the President / Dist. Collector, Prakasam District One(1) Mahatma Jyothibha Phule A.P. B.C. Study Circle have been Established and function in old RIMS. Various courses were given for free coaching to the eligible BC/SC/ST/EBC candidates as per ratio prescribed by the Government.
